In a spirit of love and compassion, the St. Vincent de Paul Society provides human services to needy individuals and families without regard to race, religion or national origin. The Society meets basic needs, while inspiring hope and empowering persons to reach their fullest potential. Volunteers are at the heart of the Society's work. Individuals participate in hands-on service to bear witness to their faith, and experience personal and spiritual growth through supportive gatherings, prayer and reflections. The Society advocates for the needy, promotes their dignity and self-worth, and strives to walk with them, learn from them and see in them the presence of God.

St. Vincent de Paul (24 April 1581 – 27 September 1660) was a French Roman Catholic priest who dedicated himself to serving the poor. He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion. He was canonized in 1737. He was renowned for his compassion, humility, and generosity and is known as the "Great Apostle of Charity".
